"HaKrayot" Masorti Congregation was founded about 30 years ago in Kyriat Bialik by a small group of Anglo-Saxon immigrants. Today the community comprises people from 29 different countries and includes 250 member families.

The Congregation is affiliated with the national movement of Conservative Judaism in Israel, which works to foster the practice of traditional Judaism among Israeli men and women while embracing modernity.

'HaKrayot' Masorti Congregation is engaged in four primary areas of activity: Synagogue life, 'Aliyah' (new Immigrant absorption), Education and 'Tikun Olam' (social justice projects).

We believe that through the work we carry out in each of these fields we can maintain and further develop our vivid communal life as well as promote and combine the values of Conservative Judaism, democracy, religious tolerance and Zionism.

As a Masorti community, we are committed to nurturing a healthy, pluralistic spiritual and ethical foundation for Israeli society.

Our range of activity is varied and colorful. We hold programs with children, single-parent families, 'Olim', Israeli-born residents, soldiers, the elderly and an inter-religious women's group.

Rabbi Mauricio Balter, who made aliyah from Argentina has been our community leader for the past 13 years. Thanks to Rabbi Balter's intensive work the community has become a source of Jewish communal services to all the local municipality's residents.

Hakrayot Masorti Congregation is a registered non-profit association directed by its voluntary and elected Board of Members in coordination with Rabbi Balter.

On January 2007, an agreement was signed with the Kiryat Bialik Municipality, allocating Hakrayot Masorti Congregation a site to build its own religious centre. The building will include a synagogue, a hall, class rooms and offices – the Masorti home which will serve all residents of the Krayot region.
